The Break We Needed
Oil drops, inflation cools, and the market may finally be turning.

This week started with inflation fears, global tension, and a slowing housing market, but today we finally got a real break. The big shift came as we saw a ceasefire in the Middle East—even if temporary—and most importantly, oil prices dropped fast. This is huge because energy costs have been a primary driving factor in inflation. When oil prices spike, everything becomes more expensive; when they drop, inflationary pressures start to ease.
The markets have finally responded, showing improvement for the first time this week. Mortgage rates moved lower, and we’re starting to see some real momentum. This isn’t just noise—it is the market reacting to reduced inflationary risk.
Early this week, we saw fears of a slowdown, but by mid-week, things stabilized. Now, we’re seeing relief because of those oil prices. This is the market’s attempt to stabilize the housing sector and the broader economy. At the same time, we see slowing buyer activity as consumers feel stretched, yet home prices are holding strong. This isn’t a crash; it is a cooling phase.
The real takeaway? When you combine cooling inflation, a slowing US economy, and easing global tension, you get the impactful shift needed for mortgage rates to move lower. We aren’t there yet, but this is a major step in the right direction. This is the first week in a while where things have moved with the momentum we’ve been hoping for. If this continues, opportunities will come fast.
